what's the faq?

What happens if a client’s presented problem is resolved or alleviated prior to completing 6-12 sessions?

If a client indicates that their problem or concern has been resolved or alleviated and they feel ready to end therapy, arrangements will be made to bring therapy to an end.

What happens if the problem(s) that a client presents exceed 12 sessions?

During and throughtout therapy sessions, a review of the process and progress will be discussed with the client. This will provide useful information pertaining to the effectiveness of the psychological therapy provided. It may also provide information about how much sessions will be required to effectively manage the problem presented by the client. If it is determined that a client will require more than 12 sessions, the client and practitioner will then explore how much additional sessions will be needed or explore whether long-term therapy will be more appropriate.

What is client confidentiality?

Client confidentiality refers to the protection of information presented by clients in therapy sessions. All information conveyed by clients is treated with the strictest confidence and will not be shared with a third party. The recording of all client information will not include the client’s name or contain details that will identify the client. All client information is kept in a secured filing system.

There are exceptional circumstances when client confidentiality maybe broken. For example, if a client conveys that they are at risk of harming themselves or a third party, client confidentiality maybe broken and the appropriate agency informed. In relation to Child Protection issues, there is no requirement to inform clients about breaking client confidentiality.
